Lana Elliott is a native of Russia, who has lived most of her life in Ukraine. Throughout her life she has recognized a personal passion for helping others. It was while working at a children’s hospital in Ukraine that Lana began to realize a strong interest in the field of Law. For her, Law would come to represent the ability to make a difference in an individual’s rights and liberties and the struggle to protect them. With this, Lana pursued her career in law by being accepted and graduating from the Ukrainian National Academy of Law in Kharkov.
Having been interested in the law of other countries and especially the United States, she chose to begin a new and exciting life in America studying its legal system. She applied for and was accepted to the University Of Idaho College Of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate degree. Lana had started her legal career as an immigration attorney; however, realizing the need for legal assistance in other areas of law, besides immigration law, she is currently practicing personal injury, labor and industry, social security and disability and real estate law.
Vicki graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of California, Chico. She had always had a passion for helping people, so she then decided to become a police officer. She attended the Butte Police Academy. Upon graduation from the police academy, Vicki was hired by the Mt. Shasta Police Department. As a police officer, she worked with people from all walks of life and began to realize that she could help people more as an attorney. She was accepted to the University of Idaho School of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2004. Vicki opened her own practice, handling bankruptcy and family law for several years. She was also involved in alternative dispute resolution, including collaborative divorce and mediation. In 2014, Vicki joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC. She continues to practice bankruptcy, collaborative family law, and mediation, and now also practices in the areas of personal injury, social security and disability, and immigration.
Katie Merrill joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC in 2016. She was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had an early passion for learning about the law and for helping people through the legal system. She always knew she wanted to be a lawyer. She graduated Cum Laude from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She then attended Gonzaga University School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Juris Doctorate Degree. She is dedicated to helping clients protect their rights and interests through the legal system.
Katie practices Criminal and DUI Defense, Traffic Tickets Defense, Personal Injury, and Real Estate.
Maria was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. In 2008, Maria graduated from Law School at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, campus Mexico City. In 2006, Maria started as a law clerk in Mexico. In 2010, she accepted an offer from the Mexican Consulate in Boise, Idaho, where she was employed for more than 5 years. There, she learned about the needs of the Hispanic community here in the Northwest, and in 2015, she was accepted at Gonzaga University School of Law, in Spokane, WA, where she graduated and obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in May, 2017. Maria grew up in a very traditional Mexican family and is very proud of her strong Mexican heritage. Maria is the first one in her family to graduate school outside of Mexico. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, and she feels grateful for being able to use her education and language skills to help the Spokane community.
Maria joined Elliott Law Group in September, 2017, as a Rule 9 intern while she studies for the upcoming Washington Bar exam in February 2018. Maria is happy to be part of a team dedicated to providing members of the community reliable assistance with a range of legal expertise.
Joanna Couch first joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC as an intern through the Spokane Community College ABA-approved paralegal program. Excelling in her studies and graduating with honors, Joanna received an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Paralegal Studies and was awarded one of two Outstanding Paralegal Awards.
Since 2012, the year that Joanna became a member of Elliott Law Group, PLLC, she has helped countless families reunite here in the U.S. and assisted numerous immigrants in obtaining legal status and U.S. citizenship.
Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Yakima, Washington, Joanna is fluent in both Spanish and English. She was raised in a very close Hispanic family and community. Being brought up by her first-generation Mexican immigrant parents, and growing up in an extremely productive agricultural region, Joanna knows first-hand how difficult life can be for the immigrant community in the United States. She is grateful for being able to utilize her education and language skills to help the immigrant community with acquiring legal assistance and effective counsel in a range of legal issues they may encounter. Joanna takes great pride in her work and thoroughly enjoys the ability to be able to positively impact people’s lives in such a big way.
Nelli is a native of Latvia. It was in Latvia that she received her masters degree in accounting and economics. Nelli and her family immigrated to the United States in 1995 as religious refugees and quickly established their new lives here in the Spokane area. Nelli went on to accomplish her life’s dream; a medical education and a nursing degree, as well as an AA degree in social services. She worked as a case manager for Refugee and Immigration Services at Catholic Charities of Spokane from 2000 until 2015. While there, she assisted refugees from countries worldwide. She joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC, in October of 2015 and is the firm’s Senior Paralegal, assisting attorneys with Social Security and Disability, Labor and Industry Wills, Power of attorney cases, and also immigration matters. As a valued member of Elliott Law Group, PLLC, Nelli’s broad life experience now gives her the opportunity and privilege to serve Spokane’s diverse and growing community.
Kate first joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC, as an intern through the Spokane Community College ABA approved Paralegal program in 2015. She is currently attending SCC working towards her Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Paralegal studies. Kate graduated from the Law School at Belarusian State University and worked as a lawyer in Belarus for six years. She came to the United States with her husband and two wonderful kids in 2014 through the Diversity Visa Lottery program. Being a first generation immigrant, Kate knows first-hand how difficult the immigration process is, and being part of the immigrant community she understands how challenging it can be to start a new life in a new country. Kate’s willingness to help people reunify with their families and assisting immigrants to pass through the often complex immigration process brought her to our office. At Elliott Law Group, PLLC, Kate, being a Russian and English speaker mainly helps non-English speaking clients in dealing with insurance companies, state agencies and the numerous additional players often involved in different complicated legal processes here in the U.S.
Nadiya Casiadi joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC in the beginning of September, 2016 as a legal assistant. She attended Spokane Community College, becoming a Certified National Pharmacy Technician. Speaking both English and Russian, Nadiya uses her knowledge and experience in the medical field to help clients with personal injuries and social security and disability issues. She also provides language assistance and translation for the offices’ clients.
Nadiya was born in Moldova and immigrated to Spokane, Washington with her family in 2003 with hopes of educational opportunities and a career that was not offered back in her home town. She joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC to realize the passion she has for helping and assisting people coming from the same or similar background. Nadiya is dedicated to helping clients pursue their dreams and achieve their goals for a better life.
Virsaviya Sidorenko first entered the legal field as an intern at the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office through the Legal Administrative Assistant program. After graduating from Spokane Community college in 2016 with a Legal Administrative Assistant degree and a Front Office Professional certificate, Virsaviya joined Elliott Law Group, PLLC.
Virsaviya was born in Donetsk, Ukraine. When she was three years old, her family immigrated to the United States, settling in Sacramento, California for about eight years. In 2005, she moved with her family to Spokane, Washington. Virsaviya, being a fluent Russian and English speaker, saw her Russian-speaking parents struggle to speak English and helped by translating for them whenever the need arose. She brings the same commitment and patience to Elliott Law Group, PLLC’s clients.
Virsaviya is very proud to be part of a legal team that is extremely passionate about helping people resolve a wide variety of legal issues. Every day, Virsaviya is learning new ways that she is able to better serve her community as a legal assistant at the firm.
Marisol Garcia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gonzaga University. She is currently enrolled at Washington State University pursuing her master’s degree in Criminal Justice. She has a passion for helping others and she is really interested in immigration law that she plans to attend law school to become an attorney.
Marisol is fluent both in Spanish and English. She was raised in Sunnyside, WA and has firsthand experience on how difficult life is as an immigrant. She is extremely grateful to be part of Elliott Law Group, PLLC., especially having the opportunity to help the immigrant community.
Elena Calderon started with Elliott Law Group, PLLC in January of 2016 as a legal assistant. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Raised in Mattawa, Washington, Elena grew up harvesting produce alongside her family members. It was then that Elena recognized the need for legal support for families of immigrant backgrounds. Elena’s leadership and work experience includes having worked as a graduate instructor for the Communication Studies Department at Eastern Washington University, previous work with the Department of Housing and Residential Life at EWU, serving as a Lideres Summit Staff member in 2014 with the National Council of La Raza, serving as an ambassador with the Latino/a Educational Achievement Project, and also holding a seat on the College Success Foundation Alumni Board.
Since graduating from Eastern Washington University with a Master’s Degree of Science in Communication in 2016, Elena has started her career as a community coalition coordinator with the Wahluke School District in the state of Washington. She also holds a position with Elliott Law Group, PLLC as the law firm’s outside representative.
